We have a great science experiment to teach young children about the importance of wearing hats and mittens in winter.
Take a bowl or tupperware and half fill it with water. Tell your child you are placing it outside just before a cold night. In the morning bring the container in and discover together how the water has turned into ice.
It can help you teach the different 'forms of water' and stress the effects of cold temperatures (since it is so visual).
